Mid-North Coast Pool Fencing
Pool fencing isn’t just about ticking boxes — it’s about keeping your family safe without turning your yard into a cage. At Aztech Fencing, we’ve been installing compliant, great-looking pool fencing on the Mid-North Coast for over 20 years, using materials like glass, aluminium and powder-coated steel to suit all kinds of home designs. Whether your pool is above ground, sunken, or integrated into a larger outdoor living area, we’ll make sure your fencing enhances the layout, not cuts across it.
We know exactly what’s required to meet NSW pool fencing regulations, and we don’t take shortcuts. From gate swing direction to panel spacing and latch height, every part of your setup will be installed to spec — and to last. It’s a balance of safety, durability and clean design, done right the first time.

Fencing to Elevate Your Pool Area
A good pool fence doesn’t just meet regulations — it changes how the whole space feels. You’re stretched out on the lounger, sun on your face, cold drink in hand, and the last thing on your mind is whether the gate will self-close or if the latch’s still holding. It all just works. The lines are clean, the materials match the space, and the view through the glass or slats gives you that open, relaxed feeling that a backyard should have.
That’s what we aim for — fencing that does its job without drawing attention to itself. It’s built solid, but looks light. It keeps your kids and pets safe, but doesn’t box you in. And every detail, from the gate swing to the powder coat finish, has been thought through and fitted right. You get the safety you need, without compromising the lifestyle you’re building around it.
What are the pool fencing regulations in NSW, and how can you make sure your fence is compliant?
In NSW, pool fencing must comply with the Swimming Pools Act 1992 and the Swimming Pools Regulation 2018. Key requirements include a minimum fence height of 1.2 metres, a maximum 100mm gap under the fence, and vertical gaps no greater than 100mm. Gates must be self-closing and self-latching, with the latch at least 1.5 metres above the ground. The fence must form a complete barrier between the pool and the house or yard.
To ensure compliance, your fence should be installed by a licensed contractor familiar with the regulations, and it’s a good idea to arrange a final inspection or certification through your local council or a private certifier.
What materials are best for pool fencing in coastal areas, and how well do they hold up over time?
In coastal areas, materials need to resist salt, wind and moisture. Powder-coated aluminium is a popular choice — it's lightweight, corrosion-resistant and low maintenance. Glass fencing, particularly frameless or semi-frameless with marine-grade stainless steel hardware, is also excellent for maintaining views and resisting rust. Avoid untreated steel or timber unless regularly maintained, as they can break down quickly in coastal air.
With the right materials and fittings, coastal pool fencing can last 10–20 years or more with minimal upkeep.
Can pool fencing be installed on uneven or sloped ground and what options work best?
Yes, pool fencing can be installed on uneven or sloped ground, but it requires careful planning and experienced installation. Raked (angled) panels and stepped fencing are the two main methods used to follow the slope. Raked panels maintain a continuous angle, while stepped panels drop level sections in stages. Glass and aluminium are both well-suited to sloped installs, and custom fabrication ensures proper height and gap compliance across the full span.
A site inspection is essential to determine the best layout for your yard and to ensure all regulations are still met.
